Found! On the back of the milk carton, Me !
Hi folks. Have you wondered where I am? No??
Oh.
It's been so long since I've contributed anything to my own damn little web page that I pretty much had forgotten how to do it. Old dog, new tricks, you know the deal.
I love metal detecting. I think I mentioned it once or twice on some of these pages. So why didn't I go out once in 2006? Not even once?
It was a mourning period I think. My father passed away in February of 06, and I was working a night job. Between the two I just had no motivation at all .However.... My dad was actually the guy who got me interested in metal detecting, and it is with that thought that I've decided its time to get back out there.
When I was a kid (yeah yeah back when rocks were tools etc) my father was actually interested in metal detecting .I can remember that my siblings and I (and probably mom) went out and bought a rat shack detector. No wonder he only went once.
Still the idea stayed in my head, next to the images of Bo Derek and not much else, if the truth be told.Bo remains unattainable, but there's still some gold old coins in the ground I intend to find this year, and I'll smile every time I find a classic, and remember my father always laughing when I showed him the modern mountain of pennies I'd bring home on most days out there.
But first? The ground has got to thaw. It's March 6th (his birthday btw) and it's colder than a lawyers....witches....ex wives....clowns...(fill in here).
See ya soon folks :)
Welcome to my geekfest!
Here's a look at some interesting metal detecting finds
I've made over the years In Rhode Island & New England.
Coins,Jewelry, and odds and ends, enjoy!
This dime from 1853 is my oldest silver find so far. It's amazing to think about what this might have bought back then! At the time, Millard Fillmore was ending and Franklin Pierce were beginning their presidential terms.
In 1853, California had been a state for 3 years, the sewing machine patent was 2 years old, and Walden Pond was a year from being published. What a cool find this was,all alone in a field on a day that was sweltering, but the moment I saw this dime? It was worth it!
Scroll down a bit to see a few other dimes..........

I love finding these beauties! Back when these coins were spankin' new, Teddy Roosevelt was president,The Wright brothers were stunning people with this new airplane thing, and Einstein was proposing his theory of relativity. And these dimes saw it all.
Here's a trio of miss Liberty, always a nice surprise when you find one of these after digging endless pennies! That 1917 dime was around while Woodrow Wilson was the man in charge, WW1 was in the daily news, and the Military draft was making its debut. The '42 and '45 dimes were around during WW2,and saw Franklin Roosevelt at the helm.
