I am lucky enough to Live in a town that was founded in the 1600's. It's on the water, and there are still some spots that escaped progress. That's where I find the coins.Exactly where? Umm, I forgot.
I haven't found too many older quarters, I think these represented a lot of buying power back in the day,but here's a few I DID find !
Every now and then, under an old tree with almost impossible roots, I'll get a signal, and will find one of these Indian head Pennies. They havent survived in great condition, but i'll still take 'em every time.
Here are a few old colonial pennies. I havent found one yet that hasnt been beaten to hell and back, but what will you look like after you've been planted a few hundred years?

This lump of copper is from 1783, and after putting it under every kind of magnifying glass available, I was able to make out the date. You can't, stop staring at it or you'll pop a blood vessel.

Another pitted up, scratched up, beat up coin. It's a Connecticut copper from 1785-1788, I couldn't read a date on it.

Another Conn copper. It's nice to have a few coins from Connecticut since all the money these days from here seems to end up in the Casinos THERE.

Another old cent. Date unknown. Colony unknown. I'd say the value of all these coins put together is well? About a couple of cents.

I was detecting along a fence on the first base side of a baseball field when I noticed a few cement blocks flush with the grass that had just been cut. THIS was where the old bleachers used to be! I found some nice older coins, and a few foreign ones. This one is a mystery. the other side reads "Kwang Tung Province twenty cents with a "20" in the middle. I would imagine the writing on the side showing would reveal the date. Wish I could read this language. I can't, I barely understand my own. Since posting this coin on the site, I've been emailed several times by people much smarter than me....ok lets face it that could be anyone, who've let me know its from about 1920. How nice is that!
